Con artist or scam artist is a popular term to depict somebody who is trying to scam people by luring them into giving their personal information on bank accounts, credit cards etc. The most famous type of scam they use involves sending an email to a victim and then asking him or her to go to a specific website and enter there personal info. Since this method does not seem to work anymore that well because many people learned to recognize it as a scam, now the scammers will send you an email in which they will tell you to contact your bank or other institution by giving you a specific number to call. Of course on the other side of the line there will be scammers sitting, but at least this makes more people believe that this is not a scam and thus more people fall for it. So be careful.
