Does TV Have a Future?

September 12th, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Online, Regular Posts 5 Comments »

With computers gaining more and more on popularity I wonder what the future of television will be. For me TV is a lot less attractive than a computer. My PC gives me a lot more possibilities than simply a TV monitor. A person who only watches TV becomes more passive. On the opposite, if you spend a lot of time in front of your computer, you become more and more active, your brain works and your abilities develop. You train yourself constantly to become better and better in arcade computer games or in MMO that you are currently playing. You get the sense of achievement, which you do not get when you simply watch TV. When you watch your TV you do not accomplish anything and you only look at others who accomplished something in their lives.

Still Playing Old Games?

September 7th, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Regular Posts No Comments »

The video game market is literally flooded with newer and newer games of mane genres. Whereas in general a newer game means a better game, there are a few exceptions to that. It is true that due to the progress in technology games become more attractive to one’s eye and generally use the technology in better way. But for me and many other gaming fans what matters the most is the idea behind the game. So what that a game has a flashy graphic if it lacks content? Its flashy graphics will not help at all bored with it gamers. I still tend to return to games from the past that I used to play because they give me more of what I want.

Gesture Controlled Robots

September 6th, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Regular Posts No Comments »

Tokyo University engineer has developed a very original way to control robots by using simple gestures. This robot is suppose to have cameras that would detect body movements and later translate those actions into movements. Such discovery would allow a user to control something like the direction of a robot by pointing which way they’d like it to go. What I find appealing with this way of controlling a robot is that gesture movements are a perfectly natural thing to do for a human being, contrary to using a keyboard for example. We see more and more inventions being made that are making the communication gap between humans and robots smaller and smaller. What do you think about this?

Sims for Free

September 6th, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Online No Comments »

Did you ever hear about Sims Online? The Sims are one of the most famous series of casual games. They sold millions worldwide and one of the games is Sims Online. Obviously the action of Sims Online takes place over the internet, which allows people to communicate with each other and form friendships. You can build a house, get a job, buy furniture and decorate your house in many ways.
What is interesting is that EA-Land got launched this year which was a free version of Sims Online. It was completely free-to-play and users had the ability to upload custom content. Even though the game was free, it did not attract a lot more people and eventually the game got cancelled. When it comes to Sims Online, not everyone was willing to buy the game for $40 and then pay a hefty monthly free, but it seems that players don’t even want to play it for free.

Celrun TV is a Korean product which is a premium HD multimedia player. It has a lot of features such as Ethernet, Wifi BG, digital and analog TV tuners, two USB ports with USB host, an optical out, has 320GB internal HDD, PVR function allows to record video, RGB, S-VIDEO and HDMI output. The list is for sure impressive, but on the main features that makes Celtun TV so special is the ability to play almost every codec including avi, wmv, mpg, mpeg, mp4, asf, ts, ps and many others. Taking into account that there are so many codecs available, having a device that can play nearly every code can be really useful. Alternatively if you just plan to play regular videos, then you may want to spend your money elsewhere.
In any case, it is good news for consumers that there are better and better multimedia players on the market.

Using Browser History to Estimate Gender

August 1st, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Regular Posts No Comments »

All of us value our privacy, but internet made it rather difficult to hide confidential information. Did you know that based on your browser history it is possible to estimate your gender? That is because each website you visit has a specific male-female ratio, thus knowing that ratio and the browsing history you can say with high probability what gender an internet surfer is. You can check if the script will guess what your gender you are by visiting this link:

This is a very fun script, but keep in mind that it works the best, if you don’t share your computer with anyone. I also recommend accessing the script with Firefox, unless you are really patient.

July 25th, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Guide, Online No Comments »

The easiest thing to do when you are bored that comes to my mind at the moment is to type “bored” in Google. If you type “bored” you will obtain over 91 million results. Not bad. I think that it is impossible to be bored when you have access to the internet. There are simply so many things to do that will entertain you for many hours. If you are a social person who likes to talk, then you can take advantage of numerous chats available on the net. If you are looking for a challenge versus artificial intelligence, then there are plenty of arcade games and puzzle games that you can always play. If you like to both talk to people and compete with them, the I recommend that you take part in one of the many virtual worlds created on the internet. I am sure that you will find something for yourself.

Computer Games Based on Movies

July 15th, 2008 EnhancedPixels Posted in Fun, Regular Posts No Comments »

Within the last few years there were a lot of computer games released which were based on games. Titles like Lord of the Rings Online or Star Wars Galaxies are a proof of that. Developers know that monetizing the popularity of specific movies can be a great way idea and it often works. That is because even if the game would not get rated very well, there will still be fans who will want to play it, as playing a game offers a new dimension compared to watching movies. It is also interesting that there are some movies based on games. An example of that would be Resident Evil, which was a very popular game and eventually arrived on the big screen.
